Here’s the Bio:
Evan Robinson (TheGameManager.com) started making games professionally in 1980 with TSR Hobbies, and moved to computer games in 1983. Following many successful years as an independent developer, he served as a Technical Director at EA and the Director of Games Engineering at Rocket Science Games. He also worked as an Engineering Manager and Senior Software Engineer at Adobe Systems. A frequent presenter at early Game Developers Conferences, he writes, speaks, and consults on game programming, project management, and development management from his home in North Vancouver, BC, Canada.
Here’s the Ramble:
It might seem, well, pretentious to refer to myself as “The” Game Manager — after all, there are a lot of people managing game development, and I’m a free-lancer (at the moment). That may be so, but I have been involved in game development as a programmer, project manager, Technical Director and Manager (or Director) for a lot of years, and also managed several development teams at Adobe Systems for three years. I’m more interested in the process of managing and measuring the success of managing than anyone else I know in the games business (and more than most people outside it), and what I prefer to work on is games. Incredible as it may seem, I prefer managing to programming — it provides me with a much longer lever to move the world.
So if I take advantage of the available URLs and seem a little hubristic, please reserve judgement until you’ve read some of my stuff. Since it will be good, perhaps you can consider the name to be marketing instead of hubris.
